On December 31, 2015, amendments to the current Ontario Personal Property Security Act (PPSA) will alter where registrations are to take place with respect to certain types of collateral. Jonathan Fleisher and Carla Potter of CFLA member law firm Cassels Brock LLP discussed:
- the current state of the law;
- the impact of the amendment;
- the transition rules; and
- practical answers on how registrations should take place subsequent to the proclamation of the new provisions.
This session also provided a refresher for proper registration procedures for collateral located in Ontario and highlight some common registration mistakes. Jonathan and Carla’s presentation was followed by a Q&A session.
